Willis Remains Lead Prosecutor in Georgia Election Interference Case

Judge Dismisses Recusal Motion Against Atlanta District Attorney

Court Upholds Willis' Authority to Investigate Trump

ATLANTA, GA (AP) - A Georgia appeals court has ruled that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis can continue to lead the investigation into alleged election interference by former President Donald Trump and his allies. The decision is a setback for Trump, who had argued that Willis should be disqualified from the case due to her previous statements about him.

In a 3-0 ruling, the appeals court found that Willis's prior comments did not show that she was biased against Trump. The court also noted that Willis had recused herself from a separate investigation into Trump's efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Willis has been investigating Trump and his allies for more than a year. She has subpoenaed witnesses and documents from the Trump campaign and has obtained testimony from several key figures, including former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

Trump's lawyers have argued that Willis is politically motivated and that she has violated his rights by continuing to investigate him after he left office. However, the appeals court rejected these arguments, finding that Willis has acted within her authority.

The decision is a major victory for Willis and the Fulton County District Attorney's Office. It also clears the way for Willis to continue her investigation into Trump and his allies.
